Gloucestershire Archery Society was formed to support all archery clubs in Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, and Bristol.

Junior Team Selection

Gloucestershire Archery Society is proud to offer a dynamic performance programme to support, inspire, encourage and help our young and developing junior archers build skills to compete at their best
Our county juniors have had a long history of representing Team England at national events and AGB at World Archery events in the UK and Europe. We are also incredibly proud of all our junior athletes (U21 and younger) who are regularly selected to the senior county team at regional and national championships.
We:

- host several coaching sessions a year including an inter-county Round Robin practice

- publish a monthly e-newsletter

- maintain a private, closed group Facebook page

- participate at the following County Team events:

- March – Western & Welsh Counties Mixed Team Indoor Championships

- May – Worcestershire Vs Gloucestershire Friendly

- September - GWAS Regional Senior Inter-County Championship

- generate county team rankings

- provide information and assistance to archers for records, rankings, classifications, etc

County Team selection is based on prestige rounds scores (1440 90m/1440 70m/Metrics, York/Hereford/Bristol, WA720).  Distance shot must be age appropriate or above.
The County Team Manager is always monitoring the performance of Gloucestershire's junior archers. Those who are consistent and perform well at competitions could be invited to join the county team.
We also host a Development Squad. This group is dedicated to young archers who have the potential to shoot for the county in future, but just need a bit more time and further coaching, training and guidance. Archers are invited by the Team Manager to join based on their scores, tournament participation or recommendation by coaches/clubs.
