Archery GB Update
In line with government guidelines regarding COVID-19, we are advising that all archery in the UK is postponed for the foreseeable future.
This is to reduce all non-essential contact with others and to play our part in beating coronavirus. Our priority is the health and safety of our members, participants, volunteers and staff. This decision has not been taken lightly and is based on government advice and not on the advice of our insurers.
This web page has been set up so that we can keep you updated with the latest information regarding this fast-moving situation. Understandably we have received a large number of questions regarding our position in relation to COVID-19, which we aim to answer on this page. We don’t have all the answers yet, but we are committed to sharing everything with you as soon as we can.
Please do not shoot at home
We appreciate that our members, and a lot of our staff, want to get out and shoot, and the logical answer is to shoot in your home or garden, but we are urging you not to. It is not an easy decision we have had to make to get to this point, but we are trying to keep you all as safe as we possibly can.
Please remember that you are not insured to physically shoot at home because Archery GB insurance only insures members shooting at Archery GB registered ranges. If you attend a venue that allows you to shoot, you must check that you are covered by the venue’s insurance or maintain your own.
Once again, members are only insured to shoot at Archery GB registered ranges. We cannot manage the level of risk shooting at home, archery is a very safe sport because of the rules that we all adhere to. We cannot guarantee that home ranges will adhere to the rules of shooting and we don’t have the resources to carry out the relevant risk assessments.
